Earn a City and Guilds accreditation in enter and safely working within low risk confined spaces. Ideal for absolutely anyone working with confined spaces in their working environment.

When booking please state if you require the City & Guilds 6150-01 (Water), or the City & Guilds 6150-51 (Non-Water). Both courses cover the same content, but learners sit a different exam at the end.

Course Description

Fully City and Guilds accredited, this training course is made to instruct delegates on the correct way to identify, enter and safely work within low risk confined spaces.

Low risk confined spaces are generally classified by low risk shallow entries. There will be no entry and exit issues and entry/exit will generally be easy with no complications. Natural ventilation and no risk of flooding are also present.

This course is suitable for anyone who will be entering a low-risk confined space such as a trench and is perfect for those working with construction, industrial and chemical environments.

Those working in the water industry are better suited to this courses’ water equivalent, 6150-01. Please contact us for more details.

Course Content

This course covers the following modules related to entry into low-risk confined spaces:

  • Legislation relating to confined spaces
  • Understanding the classifications between different confined spaces
  • Principles of confined space hazards
  • Risk assessment awareness for confined spaces
  • Permit to work system principles
  • Using tools and equipment safely
  • Atmospheric monitoring procedures and principles
  • Safe procedures at work
  • Preparation for entry, working and exiting low risk confined spaces
  • Confined space hygiene principles
  • Understanding and dealing with confined space emergencies
All modules are within the principles set out by the National Occupational Standards.

Assessment

This course is assessed through both a practical and written test.

Due to the nature of the physical aspect of this course delegates should be physically fit and suitable for entry into a confined environment.

Prerequisites

Delegates should be familiar with the regulation and legalisation relating to confined spaces before studying this course.

Certificate(s) Gained

Upon completion of this course delegates will receive  a City and Guilds 6150-01/51 Award in Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces.
